ECRO membership

By supporting ECRO you support the chemoreception science community in Europe. ECRO acts as a forum for scientist across Europe. It strengthens collaborative ties in the fields of smell and taste and thereby pushes science forward. ECRO actively supports scientists at early career stages by offering travel grants to attend congresses and PhD courses or to visit partner laboratories.

  • Connect with the Chemosensory Community

    ECRO is a scientific association with more than 250 members. Although ECRO is a European Organization it holds strong ties with scientists and partner organizations abroad, such as the USA, Japan, and Australia (see Related Societies).

  • Get a reduced registration fee for the ECRO congress

    ECRO organizes a yearly conference at changing European locations to bring together scientists that pursue research in smell and taste, covering a wide range of methods, disciplines, and model organisms. As a member of the ECRO community you will receive discount on the registration fee for participation in the annual ECRO Congress.

  • Place a free job offer or search for job opportunities

    Are you looking for a job or are you looking for new members of your research team? As an ECRO member, you can place your job offers or your personal profile using links on the ECRO website, reaching the most relevant scientific community for your needs.

  • Discount subscription to Chemical Senses journal
    ECRO members are eligible to receive a discount for the subscription to the official journal Chemical Senses. You can choose, whether you would like to subscribe to the online or print version (hardcopy) of the journal.
  • Apply for travel grants / support young scientists

    Early stage scientists, such as postdocs and PhD students can apply for travel grants to support their participation of ECRO congresses, congresses of partner societies (AChemS, ISOT), PhD courses, summer schools, or to visit collaborative partner laboratories for a short term project.

  • Execute your voting rights

    Members have full voting rights at the ECRO General Assembly and thereby can shape the focus and direction of ECRO.


Annual costs and important notes

The ECRO membership fee is 70,- € per year for regular members. Student members and honorary members pay a discounted fee of 20,- €. Memberships run from January to December, meaning that payments are due on the first of January.

Members will be notified of their due payments via email. Members have access to the online membership benefits. Email addresses are the prime means of communications between the site, the members and the ECRO Board. Invoices and receipts are also send to the email address on file of a respective member.
